Principal's Message

Welcome to Aguilar Elementary School!

We are honored to serve over 400 children from Pre-K through fifth-grade. Our teachers strive to provide excellent instruction and build student interest in all subject areas, from reading, writing, math, and the sciences to music, art, and physical education. Social skills and being a solid citizen are also embedded into our teaching and learning.

Aguilar is a 1-1 technology school, meaning all children K-5 have a laptop available for individual use throughout the day. In the 2024-2025 school year, we are excited to introduce our third grade classes to the Dual Language Immersion Program which was previously offered to only kindergarten through second graders.

Aguilar students participate in standards-based, well-planned lessons throughout the day. Teachers use research-based methods and curriculum to provide every child the highest quality education possible. Teachers, administration, and support staff meet several times per week to analyze student data, and work collaboratively to plan the next steps in helping children continue to grow and learn. Project-Based Learning allows students to put their new skills and knowledge into more “real-world” applications, including working as a team, problem-solving, and persevering through challenges.

Aguilar Wildcats are committed to following Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, and adhere to three basic school expectations: be respectful; be responsible; be ready to learn. The PBIS program honors and rewards students for making appropriate choices, and encourages all to be their best each day. There is something for everyone at Aguilar – strong academic instruction, dedication to the fitness of mind and body, students building each other’s confidence, after-school clubs (both academic and empowering, such as Girls Who Code), and a caring staff and community that strives to prepare your child for a successful future!

We welcome you to visit our campus to see firsthand the wonderful activities and learning our children do on a daily basis. I am honored to work for Aguilar students, families, staff, and the entire community!

Go Wildcats!

Sincerely,
Matthew Strauss
